She was the cousin of Frances Smith, Elisabeth Smythe, Elizabeth Markham, Margaret Markham, Frances Markham.

Her grandfather had been lord mayor of London.

After his marriage Sir John Skinner continued to be a 'rank heretick' and would not permit the children to be Catholic. After his death three of his children became Catholic: see Chronicles p293-4.
