Her father 'was a hot protestant, but her mother was a good Catholick...[He] permitted his wife to keep her religion but would have his children to be brought up in heresie...' Agnes was brought up in heresy 'but coming to years of discretion ...was secretly reconciled to the church: see Chronicle pp252-9.
